Program Outline

Track Walk's take place at racetracks throughout the country, mainly local short tracks. Our programs are set up following the same basic template, but varies for each tracks unique venue. Track walks take place during a time period of two to four hours long, our most common time frame is the two hour long program.

A group of 2-15 people make up one team, registration for an event is done by creating teams and having individuals signup on teams (individuals are not required to join a team). All team registration is done online or by submitting a completed registration brochure to Racing Against Cancer. Teams choose colors, a number, t-shirt size (optional not not receive a t-shirt), team name and more. The main focus is for these 2-15 team members to gather donations and pledges for their teams as either standard donations or as per-lap donations. A minimum $25 registration fee is required for all track walkers (aged 5 and under fee is not required) and due upon the day of the event prior to the start of the Track Walk.

The Track Walk programs all follow the same basic set-up. Each event will start with the Green Flag, a lap dedicated to cancer survivors to celebrate the start of a new cancer-free life. Event will have a Yellow Flag(s), a time or set number of laps dedicated to remember those that have lost their battle with cancer, this will be done with a yellow flag, with the person’s name on it, held in participants hands. All yellow flags will then be placed near finish line in the grass for the remainder of the event to show they are still with us in spirit. Track walk will end with the White Flag, this is the final lap of the event that everyone takes part in, each participant will receive a personal checkered flag at the end of this lap to show their support and completion of event. Event will officially conclude with the Victory Lane Ceremony, a time dedicated to show there is still the opportunity to make the pledge to spread awareness of cancer research, prevention, and treatments

During the course of a Track Walk event there are kids activities, food and beverage, and other fun items to partake in.
